Anita Catarina Malfatti (December 2, 1889 – November 6, 1964) introduced Modernism to Brazil. Her style was expressionist and revolutionary. Anita Malfatti and the Group of Five were involved in enormous revolutionary changes in the structure of modern art in Brazil.
The “Week of Modern Art” was a cultural event which consisted of lectures, readings, and exhibitions, with new concepts of art to a public not very well prepared for their irreverent innovations. (Adapted from britannica.com.)
